Here you can find the character designs of some characters in Korean history!
KING SUKJONG
The reign of King Sukjong is a story that I really like and find interesting, that is why, AS ALWAYS, I wanted to draw the characters of his story.
For King Sukjong's design, I used as reference his portrait and how he looked in the K-drama Dong Yi.
I didn't really have many problems, but I am still working on his design and I will also be drawing his full body (as well as the following characters)
QUEEN INHYEON
The second wife of King Sukjong, and a character with a kind of sad story, but I also stressed while investigating her life.
I wanted her design to be sweet but not like if she was a 7-year-old child. Of course, she had to be beautiful and elegant; qualities that I tried to represent through her.
For her hairstyle, I searched Joseon Queens' hairstyles and selected one that was simple, because the type of beauty I tried to represent through her was minimalistic and majestuous, not like her successor, Jang Huibin.
When drawing her profiled face, I had trouble with the nose. I noticed many Korean women have rounded noses, but I didn't know how to draw those, so I had to search Korean women's profiles to correctly represent it. Part of her design that represents her humbleness is her round features.
